Description

Besides exploring Mount Kinabalu and the enchanting Semporna, one of Sabah's highlights is discovering the exotic flowers and fruits from tropical regions of Asia, Central and South America, and Africa!

Welcome to the Sabah Agricultural Park!

If you love plants and enjoy being close to nature, this trip will perfectly meet your expectations! While there won't be thrilling mountain hikes or refreshing dips in the water, you’ll be continually amazed by the wonders of nature that you’ve never truly known.

Sabah Agriculture Park (Taman Pertanian Sabah), one of Malaysia’s largest garden parks, boasts over 20 themed gardens, including the Plant Evolution Garden, Native Orchid Center, and Research Center. Spanning 500 acres (around 200 hectares), it’s a massive "collection house" of various flora, not just from Sabah, but also from tropical regions of Asia, Central & South America, and Africa. One day simply isn’t enough to explore every corner!

The Ornamental Garden is the perfect starting point for flower enthusiasts, featuring over 20 meticulously designed mini-gardens showcasing different plants and flowers. Whether you love Bougainvillea, Hibiscus, Hoya, Ixora, Lily, Clerodendrum, Cactus, Carnivorous or Parasitic plant, you'll be captivated by the stunning collections here. Some species are even unique to Borneo! Don’t miss the Plant Evolution Garden, which displays plants from as far back as 450 million years ago.

One of the park’s most alluring attractions is the pond of Victoria amazonica. The giant lily pads floating on the pond can support up to 30 kilograms! The park also boasts the world's largest Native Orchid Center, featuring rare and endemic orchid species from Borneo. Out of the 1,500 orchid species found on Borneo Island, 400 can be seen here, including the rare and endangered Phalaenopsis gigantea.

The Stingless Bee Garden is a must-visit, known as one of the world’s best bee research centers. Sir David Attenborough's BBC Natural History Unit traveled all the way from the UK to film a documentary here, proving its renown. Of the nine bee species in the world, four have been recorded here.

How much do you know about Sabah’s native fruit varieties? The Native Fruit Garden will introduce you to many unique Sabah fruits such as the Pangi, Takob-Takob, and Peruput. Here's a tip: June to August is the best time to visit! During this season, the trees are laden with fruit.

What are you waiting for? Sign up now and discover the wonders of Borneo's ecology!
